KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement-West has issued revenue recovery demand notices of around Rs 200 million to different telecommunication companies on short payment of taxes in import of telecommunication equipments.
Sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned with the consent of Collector-MCC Appraisement (West) Muhammad Saleem have issued revenue recovery demand notices to the various telecommunication companies.
They further informed that the MCC Appraisement-West has responded the audit observations sent by the Directorate General of Internal Audit in connection with the telecommunication equipments’ import.
Reacting upon the audit observations, the MCC Appraisement-West after agreeing upon the audit paras, have sent demand notices to the telecommunication companies including M/s Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), M/s Warid Tel Communication, M/s Mobilink and M/s Zong CM-Pakistan Telecommunication Limited.
When contacted, the Additional Collector Azhar Hussain Merchant informed Customs Today that the Collectorate has started to issue demand notices amounting to Rs 200 million to different telecommunication companies.
ADC-Azhar Hussain Merchant further said that the Collectorate will make contravention reports against those importers who failed to respond the revenue recovery demand notices, adding that the Collectorate will also provide appropriate time to those telecommunication companies to deposit short revenue in the national exchequer.
