Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has established complaint cells in all the provinces to redress telecom consumer grievances being faced by them.

Addressing a news conference here on Friday, Chairman PTA Dr. Mohammed Yaseen said the consumers have access through toll Free Number, telephone, fax, e-mail, PTA's website, post and in person visitation. He said the consumers can also access PTA's Zonal offices across the provincial capitals for resolution of their complaints. He said more than eighty thousand individual consumer complaints have been received and redressed by the Authority uptil now. Dr Yaseen said that PTA focuses its attention on protecting consumer interest in a more specific manner according to global consumer protection regulations that cater to the issues pertaining to consumer protection. He said as part of our regulatory initiatives, regulator notified consumer protection regulations, 2009 was enforced in March this year. To a question, he said regulations against Spam, Fraudulent; obnoxious and unsolicited Communications 2009 are also in the progress.
