| There are numerous weight loss surgery options that are available, in case the workouts don't help in the desired way. Here are to name a few:
Laparoscopic Gastric Banding ( Lap Band): This includes applying an inflatable Lap-Band around the upper part of stomach, in an attempt to create a small pouch and narrow opening in the remaining part of the stomach. The best part about this surgery is its reduced surgical pain and trauma.
Biliopancreatic Diversion (BPD): This surgery is performed to reduce the stomach's volume by removing a part of it, so that both food intake and stomach acid production are restricted.
Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG): Commonly known as stomach stapling, this involves dividing the stomach into 2 parts to create 2 pouches. Food is emptied into the lower pouch from the upper pouch through a narrow opening. Around this opening is kept a band, that does not allow the size of the opening to increase.
Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RGB): This surgical technique is similar to VBG, but in this, the food passes from the smaller pouch of the stomach directly to the middle of the small intestine. This way, the stomach and the upper part of small intestine are bypassed and also the food volume is limited. |
