PostSubject: My experience of market development for optical fiber cable (1)   Wed 30 Dec 2009, 7:54 am

When I am free, I’m always going FOB forum where I learned much after many hot shots at international trade. As a sales who working for a long time in the business line of optical fiber cable, I gathered much experience and won my customers’ trusting and orders. When I was a newbie, I dreamed that there’s a bright future for me. At present, I wanna to share my experience of market development.

Ahmed, a trader of optical products such as fiber optical cables, patch cords and optical accessories from Egypt, is my first foreign customer. I remembered that I registered our company’s info on many B2B websites. There’s almost no result. One day, there’s one person who added my MSN. This person was Ahmed. We talked on MSN and I got the info that Ahmed’s company was a trading one who wanted to find a supplier in China. It’s sure that what I talked gave Ahmed a deep impression. He sent the data sheet of fiber optic cable that they needed to me by email. And I had received many inquiries from him till now. The feature of Ahmed’s inquiries was that the optical fiber cables he needed were all special, different from the common ones in NECERO such as GYXTW for aerial application, GYTA for Duct and GYTA53/GYTY53 for direct buried application. Every time when I received inquiry from Ahmed, I had to consult our engineer for all the dimensions of the cable like tensile strength, crushing and so on. As is known, Egypt and China have jet lag for seven hours. The best time for us to communicate would be 9pm and even later. I sent the reply to Ahmed on daytime and discussed with him on MSN at night. A penny saved is a penny earned, although it’s very hard to wait for the customer until he was online and then stayed up to communicate with him. At last I was rewarded for the first PO from Ahmed after communicating with him for a long time. The product in the first PO is GYXTS optical fiber cable with 12 fibers. The reason why I designed GYXTS is to save the cost for my customer on the base of quality guarantee. Although the total amount for this first order was 4826US$, I got confidence from this order and was encouraged to sell NECERO’s cable to more other foreign countries.

I have been contacting Ahmed and become friends with him now. Sometimes, we talk about family, hobbies, sports and so on. I think, the friendship from trade relation is what I want. If only you are sincere to make friends with your customer and make full consideration for them, you are able to build good long-term cooperation with your customers.
